The Detective Guide: Find Which Suspect Is Lying
In The Detective you are in charge of the case. Each case is a short story about something that went missing or went wrong, plus three suspects who each make one statement about what they did. Two of them are telling the truth and exactly one is lying. Your job is to prove which one from the evidence.
Cases come in easy, medium and hard, and you can filter them on the case browser. There is no clock, so take your time. Play a case alone, or open it for a team in a private room with at least two players and solve it together.

- Choose a difficulty, then pick a case from the list. Cases you have already solved are marked.
- Read the story and the three statements calmly. Note what each statement actually claims: a time, a place, a colour, an object being moved.
- Open the evidence one piece at a time; opening it is free. Highlight any piece that looks important so it stays in view.
- Need help? A case has up to three hints, each paid with coins from your wallet, and each one points you closer to the answer.
- Choose the liar and confirm your verdict. You only get one attempt, after which the solution appears with an explanation of which evidence exposed the lie.
- In a room with friends, everyone votes for a suspect and the team majority decides the verdict.
Scoring and rewards
A solved case is worth 10 points and 10 XP. A wrong accusation scores zero but still gives 5 XP for finishing. Solo, your first solve of a case pays 1 coin. In a room the whole team shares one result, and every player still in the room at the verdict gets 1 coin.
Coins and XP are paid only once per case. Replaying a case you have already been paid for records it in your history with no extra coins or XP. A hint costs 5 coins solo, or 15 coins in a room, where each player may open one hint per case.
Tips and strategies
- Compare each statement with the evidence about that same person, detail by detail. The lie usually hides in something small, like the colour of a drawer or an exact time.
- Do not only hunt for the liar; prove the other two are honest. If each of them is backed by a piece of evidence, the third one is your liar.
- Highlight evidence with numbers, colours or places. Those are the details that contradict statements.
- Hold off on hints. Evidence is free, and the answer is usually already in it.
- With friends, talk it through before voting. The majority decides, so convincing your team is part of the game.
Frequently asked questions
- Is there a time limit?
- No, there is no timer at all. Read and think at your own pace, but the verdict is a single attempt.
- Can I replay a case I already solved?
- Yes, but coins and XP are paid only the first time. A replay is saved in your history without a reward.
- How do I play with friends?
- Open a private room with at least two players and choose a case for the team. Everyone votes, and the majority settles the verdict.
