Movie Emoji Guide: Name the Egyptian Film From Emojis
Movie Emoji is made for fans of Egyptian cinema. Each puzzle is a short row of emojis describing the title of an Egyptian film, sometimes literally and sometimes through a pun or an idea. A sleeping face and a jar of honey, for example, point to the Adel Emam film whose title means Sleeping in Honey.
Your task is to decode the emojis and spell the Arabic title with letter tiles. There is no timer, so it is a relaxed solo game. It is organised into sections and levels of 10 films each, and each level opens once you finish the one before it.
Play Movie EmojiHow to play
- Read the emojis in order; their order usually follows the words of the title.
- Count the boxes. A title can be several words, and the boxes show the length of each one.
- Tap tiles to spell the title. Note that 4 of the tiles are extras that are not in the title.
- As soon as every box is filled, your answer is checked automatically.
- If it is wrong, rearrange the letters and try again; no clock is running.
- Stuck? Every film has two written hints you can unlock with coins.
Scoring and rewards
Each film you name correctly earns 10 points. With no timer there is no speed bonus, and a wrong attempt costs nothing. Hints do not lower your points either; each one costs 5 coins from your wallet, and a new account starts with 20.
Level stars come from your score in that level. Clearing a level for the first time pays 2 to 5 coins depending on your stars, while replays pay no more coins. Every finished run also earns XP toward your account level, about 10 per correct answer.
Tips and strategies
- Read each emoji literally first: a candle is a candle and a lion is a lion. If that does not fit, look for the figurative meaning.
- Many titles are a phrase joined by small words such as "and" or "in"; a one-letter box is very often the Arabic "and" (و).
- Think of the big stars, such as Adel Emam, Ahmed Zaki, Ahmed Helmy and Soad Hosny. The first hint often tells you whose film it is.
- There are only four extra tiles, so once part of the title is in place, the leftover letters narrow the rest quickly.
- Open the first hint alone and try with it before paying for the second.
