Falling Words Guide: Clear the Grid Word by Word
Falling Words is a solo puzzle with a touch of chess-like planning. You get a small letter grid, from 3 by 3 up to 6 by 6, with a few words hidden inside. Boxes below the grid show the length of each word, in the order you must find them.
What sets it apart from a normal word search is gravity. When you find a word its letters disappear, and the letters above drop into the gap. So the second word may not even exist in the starting grid; it only appears after the letters fall. The game has many levels grouped in sections, grids grow harder as you advance, and there is a Daily challenge too.
Play Falling WordsHow to play
- Check the boxes below the grid to see how long the first word is.
- Drag through touching letters, across, down or diagonally. The path may bend and turn.
- A right word vanishes and the letters above it fall. A wrong one resets your trace.
- If the game says "right word, other tiles", the same word must be traced along a different path.
- Keep solving the words in order until the grid is empty.
- Reached a dead end? Undo your last word, restart the grid, or give up to end the round.
Scoring and rewards
A grid is all or nothing. Each word in it is worth 10 points, so a five-word grid pays 50, but only once the grid is fully cleared. Giving up early scores zero and does not pass the level. There is no timer and no speed bonus.
Each level is one grid, and you must clear it completely to unlock the next. A first clear pays coins by your stars (up to 5), finishing the Daily pays 5 coins, and every solved grid earns XP for each of its words.
Tips and strategies
- Before you trace, ask what will fall into the gap. The next word has to be possible after the drop.
- If a word appears in more than one place, pick the path that keeps the remaining letters close together.
- Use undo rather than restarting the whole grid; usually only your last word was the problem.
- On large grids, think about letters near the bottom. Clearing them shifts whole columns and changes the board the most.
- Do not give up too quickly. Giving up scores zero, while restarting costs nothing.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is my correct word not accepted?
- The game checks the exact tiles you traced, not just the spelling. A word can sometimes be traced along several paths, and a specific one is expected. Try the same word using different tiles.
- Is there a timer?
- No. Think through every move at your own pace.
- Do I have to find the words in order?
- Yes. The boxes below the grid follow a fixed order, and the game expects the word whose turn it is.
