You Have 5 Seconds Guide: Pick 3 Right Answers in Time
You Have 5 Seconds is a quick-thinking game. A prompt like Pick 3 fruits appears with four options below it: three fit and one is the odd one out. You need to select the three that fit before the five seconds are up, which really means spotting the intruder and leaving it alone.
Questions cover everyday things, categories, letters and numbers. You can play on your own, or open a private room and challenge 2 to 8 players, each on their own phone.
Play You Have 5 SecondsHow to play
- Choose to play solo, or create a room and send the code to your friends.
- After a 3-second countdown the prompt and its four options appear, and the five-second timer starts right away.
- Tap the correct answers. If you change your mind before the third, tap an option again to unselect it.
- As soon as you pick the third answer, your choice is sent automatically, with no confirm button.
- After each question the correct answers are shown if you missed or ran out of time, then the next question begins. A game is 10 questions.
Scoring and rewards
Each question is worth 10 points, but only if all three picks are right. Two right and one wrong scores zero, and so does running out of time before your third pick. There is no speed bonus and no penalty, so the top score is 100.
There are no hints in this game. Solo, getting at least one question right earns a coin, and your points turn into XP that raises your level. In a room, the sole top scorer earns the room winner's coins and the other players who took part earn a coin.
Tips and strategies
- Do not hunt for the three right answers one by one. Scan all four at once, find the odd one out, then tap the other three.
- Keep your fingers ready over the options before the countdown ends.
- If the intruder is not obvious, reread the condition: pets is not the same as animals.
- With letter and number prompts, read to the end. Everything hinges on one small word: even or odd, greater than or less than.
- If you tap a wrong one before your third, unselect it quickly instead of sending a losing answer.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I pick just two and wait?
- Your answer is only sent when you pick the third. If time runs out first, the question counts as wrong.
- Does answering faster earn extra points?
- No. Every correct question is a flat 10 points however quick you are. The five seconds are simply the limit.
- Can I change a choice after tapping it?
- Yes. As long as you have not picked your third, tap the option again to remove it.
- What is the difference between solo and a room?
- The questions and rules are the same. Solo, you play against yourself and chase 100; in a room everyone answers on their own phone and the totals are compared at the end.
