Four Pics One Word Guide: Find the Shared Word
In Four Pics One Word you see four pictures that look different but all point to the same Arabic word. The word might be an object the pictures share, an idea that runs through all four, or a word with more than one everyday use.
Under the pictures is a row of empty boxes, one per letter, and below that a bank of letter tiles. Your job is to spot the link and spell the word with those tiles. You can play solo, take on the Daily challenge, open a private room for up to 8 friends, or meet it inside Battle Mix. The game also has sections and levels that unlock one after another.
A game takes about three minutes, which makes it a good short break, and it trains you to spot the link between things that look nothing alike.
Play Four Pics One WordHow to play
- Look at all four pictures together instead of fixating on one.
- Ask what all four have in common, and count the boxes to learn the word length.
- Tap tiles in order to fill the boxes.
- Placed a wrong letter? Tap it in its box to send it back, or use Delete or Clear.
- Your answer is sent once every box is full. If it is wrong, fix it and try again while the timer is still running.
- A game has 6 puzzles, with 30 seconds for each.
Scoring and rewards
A correct word earns 10 points plus a speed bonus of up to 5 that shrinks as the timer runs down, so one puzzle is worth up to 15. A wrong attempt costs no points, but the seconds it takes do reduce your speed bonus.
The standard game has no hints, so it rewards sharp observation. Every finished game earns XP for your player level (about 10 per correct answer, minimum 5). Coins come from achievements: clearing a level for the first time pays 2 to 5 coins depending on your stars, the Daily pays 5 and winning a room pays 5. Replaying a level you already cleared pays no coins.
Tips and strategies
- Hunt for the common thread rather than describing each picture: sea, fish, rod and boat probably point to fishing or the sea.
- The box count is your strongest clue. Drop any candidate of the wrong length without trying it.
- Think about words with several meanings, such as a word that names an object and a feeling.
- The tile bank contains extra letters, so start with a letter you are sure of and see what grows from it.
- If you get stuck, clear the boxes and start fresh rather than nudging one letter at a time.
