Memory Race Guide: Match Every Pair in Fewer Flips

Memory Race is the classic card-matching game played fast. You get a board of face-down cards, and every picture appears on exactly two of them. Flip two cards per turn and find every matching pair from memory.

Boards vary in size from round to round, from a small grid up to boards with many pairs. A game has 6 rounds of 60 seconds each. Play solo, in the daily challenge, as a race against friends in a private room, or as part of a Battle Mix.

Players: Solo or multiplayer · 1–8 players

How to play

  1. Tap any card to flip it and see its picture.
  2. Flip a second card. If the pictures match, both stay face up and count for you. If not, they turn back over when you start your next turn.
  3. Remember where every picture was, even if you have not found its twin yet. The next flip might reveal it.
  4. Once every pair is found, the round ends on its own and counts as solved. If the 60 seconds run out before the board is clear, the round does not count.
  5. In a room with friends, each player flips on their own board, and the first to clear the whole board wins the round.

Scoring and rewards

Clearing a board is worth 10 points plus a speed bonus of up to 5 that shrinks the longer you take, so faster clears score more. Wrong flips have no direct penalty, but every miss eats into your time.

Each solved round gives 10 XP, and any finished game gives at least 5 XP. A solo game with at least one solved round pays 1 coin, the daily challenge pays 5 coins, and in rooms the single winner gets 5 coins while the others get 1. There are no hints in this game.

Tips and strategies

  • Work through the board in a pattern, row by row, instead of flipping cards at random all over it.
  • Name each picture and its spot to yourself, like "apple, second row, last card". Words stick better than images alone.
  • If your first flip shows a picture you have already seen, go straight to its twin. Never flip a new card when you know the answer.
  • If your first flip is a new picture, make the second flip a new card too, so you uncover more information.
  • In a room, ignore how fast your friends seem to be and focus on your own board. Rushing only adds misses.

Frequently asked questions

What if time runs out before I clear the board?
The round closes without points and a fresh board starts in the next round.
Do wrong flips cost points?
Not directly, but each miss takes time, which lowers your speed bonus.
How is the winner decided in a room?
Everyone plays their own board, and the first player to clear it all takes the round.
