TIMOZ

Last Letter Guide: Chain Rules, Votes and Hints

Last Letter is the online version of the word game many of us played as kids: each player says a word that starts with the last letter of the word before it. On TIMOZ it is played in private rooms only, with 2 to 8 players, each on their own phone.

Words must be Arabic and cannot be repeated within a match. The game keeps a large dictionary of familiar words, such as food, places, names and everyday actions, and any dictionary word is accepted instantly. If you type a valid word that is not in the dictionary, your friends decide by vote.

How to play

  1. Create a room, share the code or QR, and start once everyone is in. Anyone arriving later waits for the next match.
  2. After a 3-second countdown the game sets the first word and picks who goes first. Turns then rotate in a fixed order.
  3. On your turn you have 20 seconds to type a word starting with the required letter. A wrong letter or a repeated word shows a warning, and you can try again within the same time.
  4. If the word is not in the dictionary, the others vote for 10 seconds, and its author cannot vote. A clear majority must approve; a tie rejects it.
  5. You can pass your turn, or buy a hint with coins when the letter is tough.
  6. Each player gets 5 turns. Then the match ends and the highest score wins.

Scoring and rewards

Every accepted word is worth 10 points. Passing, running out of time or losing a vote scores zero, and the chain continues from the last accepted word. If two or more players share the top score, they share the win.

A hint is paid from your coin wallet at the room price (15 coins). It reveals a detail about a suitable word the game picked for you: first its category, then its meaning, then its length and second letter, up to the hint limit per turn (one hint in the default setup). Hints never reduce your points or extend your timer, and you may still type any other valid word.

At the end, a sole top scorer earns 5 coins, and every other player who finished with at least one accepted word earns 1 coin, plus XP for each accepted word.

Tips and strategies

  • Prepare while you wait: watch the current word's last letter and think of options for the letters likely to reach you.
  • Try to end your word on an awkward letter such as ظ, ض or غ to put the next player under pressure.
  • Arab cities, countries and personal names are a goldmine for hard letters, and many are in the dictionary.
  • A wrong letter or a repeated word does not cost your turn, so type quickly and fix it within the same 20 seconds.
  • If your word will go to a vote, pick something clear and well known so your friends approve it fast.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play Last Letter alone?
No. It is built for private rooms and needs at least two players, each on their own device.

No. Alef and hamza forms count as one letter, as do ha, ta marbuta and ta, and ya with alef maqsura.
What if someone leaves mid-match?
